Therapist

Laura Stockton, AMFT

Laura is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Drawing on a rich background as a recently retired high school teacher, she brings extensive experience working with youth while also having supported individuals across all age groups during her clinical training.

As a single mother who has adopted two children through foster care, Laura is deeply committed to trauma-informed care and family support services. Her lived experience fuels her compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy. She strives to create a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported.

Laura integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy in her work, helping clients identify and overcome negative thought patterns while guiding them to rewrite their personal narratives in ways that promote healing and growth. Her goal is to assist individuals on their path toward self-awareness, resilience, and self-actualization.

Favorite Things to Do When Not Working

I have a full life between my children’s sports and activities and spending time on our property with our horses and other animals. I enjoy activities such as hiking, yoga, camping, and running, and leisure time involves games, music, and reading.

Why I Chose This Career
I have always had a keen awareness of suffering and a deep drive to help individuals heal and thrive. It is an honor and a privilege to assist clients in their journey—to recognize their strengths, discover or rediscover their joy, and strengthen their relationships.
