Tyler Strong, ASW
Tyler is an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) with a Master’s degree in Social Work
(MSW) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. After more than a decade working
in construction, engineering, and project management, he chose to change careers to align his
work with his deeper passion: reducing suffering and helping people live more meaningful,
connected lives. Throughout his years working in high-stress industries, Tyler both witnessed and experienced the
toll that stress, physical injury, overwork, anxiety, addiction, and trauma can take on people’s
wellbeing and relationships. During that time he also began his own journey of personal growth
and healing through meditation, yoga, therapy, and studying psychology, spirituality, health, and
mindfulness. For over ten years he has maintained a regular movement and meditation practice
and continues to explore his own healing, both for his own wellbeing and to better support those
around him. His approach to therapy is grounded in mindfulness, compassion, and assisted self-discovery.
Tyler’s work is informed by Hakomi therapy, Internal Family Systems, and a systems
perspective. He works with clients to slow down, look honestly at patterns that may be keeping
them stuck, and explore practical ways of creating a life that feels more balanced and
meaningful. This can include looking not only at thoughts and emotions, but also at the broader
systems that support wellbeing, such as relationships, work, spirituality, sleep, time in nature,
purpose, and community.

Population I Work With
I especially enjoy working with adult men, particularly those in professional, technical,
construction, or first responder roles who often experience significant pressure and responsibility.
Many of the men I work with are navigating burnout, anxiety, substance abuse, depression,
relationship strain, or deeper questions about purpose and direction in life. I have also been
participating in and facilitating men’s groups for several years and value the role of honest
conversation and community in healing and growth. While I am particularly well suited to work
with men, I welcome anyone who feels that my background and approach would be a good fit.
Why I Chose This Career
After many years in demanding work environments, I felt the pressure many people carry while
trying to hold everything together. Experiencing the impact of stress and disconnection in
myself, then witnessing the positive changes that healing and growth brought to my life and
relationships, motivated me to pursue social work and support others in creating meaningful
change.
Favorite Things to Do When Not Working
I enjoy hiking and mushroom picking in the mountains and forests, free diving in the ocean,
swimming in rivers, playing guitar, practicing Qi Gong, and tending the garden.
